GUEST POST: My Active life by Lydia Millen

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m Lydia and I run a little blog named after myself (www.lydiaelisemillen.com) where I share my fashion loves as well as my fitness journey but I also work for a fashion brand at head office.

I’m from the UK, now people seem to think I’m a bit odd when I say that I love it here but I really do, we get the best of all seasons (yes we do have a summer regardless of what everyone says) and the countryside here, for me, is second to none!

What’s your favourite way to stay fit?

I absolutely love smashing the weights, I love how there’s such a stereotype attached to it and then when little old me walks in and starts a set of heavy squats or deadlifts the looks I get makes me go even harder. My gym is really nice though and we’ve got a good set of girls together where we’ll do weighted circuits, I think it’s a brilliant way to spend time with friends that is actually productive too.

What’s your style like when you’re working out and hanging out?

I spend so much time in the gym that I’ll be damned if I don’t look half decent when I do so (little can be done to help make up free me) so I love cute sports bras, statement kicks and luxe accessories like headphones, water bottles and gloves.

Hanging out and kicking back has always got to be done in cute joggers and a well-fitting tank or cami.

What’s your style like when you’re going out?

I’ve never been a huge fan of jeans and when I say that I mean I don’t own a pair and don’t intend to, so I live in leggings and disco pants day to day and on nights out I tend to go with either a statement body con or disco pants and a cute peplum or bandeau top, Loubs and big statement gold necklaces.

What does living an active life mean to you?

For me it’s embracing exercise as part of your daily routine as you would taking a shower in the morning. You don’t think about it you just do it and enjoy every minute of it.

What are your makeup must-haves?

I cannot exist without my Eyelure brow pencil, eyebrows just aren’t an optional thing for me. As far as I’m concerned they aren’t make up they are essential, even if I leave the house without foundation or mascara my eye brows will always be looking their best.

The book on your bedside table right now:

“The Secret” is currently on my bedside table however it’s been there for almost a year now gathering dust and I expect it to sit there for many more years to come haha.

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

My Grandma – She’s the most incredible woman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and with every day she leaves me in awe of her more and more. If I can be half the woman she is I will have succeeded in my eyes.

Can you share a typical workout?

My workout has had a complete overhaul in the past few weeks so my usual half hour run has been reduced to 20minutes fast walking and 5 minutes high intensity on the step machine.

I’ll then move onto a muscle group, say Abs, and do Planks, leg raises, sit ups, roman twists, crunches…the list is endless really.
