As we focus this month of what's fit about cities all around the world we chat to gorgeous gymnast Amanda Bisk about the best fit spots in her home town Perth.
What's the best place to go for a killer outdoor workout?
I love working out at the University of WA's sporting grounds in Mt Claremont. There is a beautiful grass athletics track and plenty of fields to run on (I love running bare feet here!) and it is also a great place to do hill sprints with grass hills surrounding the grounds.
What's your all time favourite cafe for a healthy meal?
My absolute favourite cafe is Yelo in Trigg. They have delicious coffee and awesome healthy foods and smoothies to choose from. It is very laid back with people popping in straight from the beach in their bathers or in their workout clothes after their coastal walk or run. I love the vibe and it's beach shack character! :)
What's the best gym to go to in Perth?
I dont usually visit the gym because I am a big fan of an outdoor workout so my fave place to do a bit of strength training is on the grassed area just north of Scarborough beach. There are chin up bars and all sorts of equipment to workout on.
But, at the moment I am obsessed with air yoga so my favourite studio is Air Yoga Perth located at Bayswater Martial Arts and Yoga Centre. They are actually moving to a brand new home in Leederville, solely used for air yoga in the next coming months.
Best Farmer's market?
Subiaco Farmers Market is AMAZING!! So many wonderful goodies to eat for breakfast that is made right in front of you. It's the perfect start to your wander around the market. There is an array of fresh fruit and veg, freshly baked bread and gourmet yummies like dried fruit, jams, cheeses and fudge.
Where's your favourite place to shop for clothes other than activewear?
There are always a few little surprise stores around if you don't mind going for a bit of a hunt around the suburbs of Perth. Leederville has a few gems along with Subiaco and Claremont. My friends here in Perth have also started an online clothing store called Closet Monster. They have a great selection of aussie labels so I love checking out their site to see whats new!
What's your favourite active thing to do on the weekend?
Love going for a skate along the coast with my friends. There is a great stretch along Trigg to Hillary's with perfect little lookouts to stop, relax and watch the sun set over the water.
Best Day Spa to go to?
To tell you the truth I haven't visited one!! I think I really need to plan a visit! ;)
Where should we go for a night out on the town and a good drink (At Vie Active we are all about balance)?
Stables in the City is great on a Friday with an awesome city vibe and yummy cocktails. My absolute favourite is the Beach Club in Cottesloe. It has a beautiful outdoor garden covered in lights, the perfect location for a balmy summer sunday afternoon.
What's your favourite thing about Perth?
Our beaches! We really do have some of the most incredible coastline.
And when you're not in Perth...What's your favourite exercise to do when travelling?
Fit ball tucks and fit ball pikes. A great challenge for core stability, balance and even a little arm and shoulder strength!
Enjoy x.
