Get Gwenyth's Legs!

Posted on March 26, 2014 by Sasha Hartley

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of our biggest fitsporations. She not only lives and preaches an active and healthy life, but isn't too strict and believes in everything in moderation. If we could take one thing from Gwyneth, besides her favourite green smoothie recipe it would have to be tips on how to get our pins as toned as hers.

Well, we may not be able to get our tips from Gwyneth directly, but we have gotten them from the next best thing-her doctor. As Summer apporaches in the states, Gwyneth religiously attends Dr. Francesco Canonaco's "leg school" at the Capri Palace Hotel and Spa in Italy.

He is a cellulite fighting king!

“Cellulite comes from the degeneration of fat cells due to hormonal imbalances or poor circulation,” Canonaco says. “So we work to combat sluggish blood circulation and reduce cellulite and swelling.”

Now whilst partaking in the program would obviously be ideal — especially since the hotel has a Michelin-starred restaurant, its own staff of sandal-makers and a sexy beach club near Capri’s famous Blue Grotto — but for those who can’t make it to Italy this year, Canonaco was kind enough to provide four leg-boosting tips, to get legs like Gwyneth.

1. Take a cold shower

It might sound prepubescent, but the cold-shower remedy is actually a wake-up for sluggish veins. “Cold water improves circulation—it invigorates the legs,” says Canonaco, who advises turning down the temperature three times a week.

2. Use a gel, not a lotion.
After exfoliating with an apricot-seed scrub like Darphin’s Perfecting Body Scrub, Canonaco recommends using a gel moisturizer, which absorbs quickly and deeply into skin. You can order Capri Palace’s Leg Gel—which has extracts of horse chestnut and Centella Asiatica to firm and tighten skin—or try Sai Sei’s Mineral Revive Body Veil.
3. Loosen up.

“Tight clothes inhibit circulation and can also affect posture,” Canonaco says. “Your whole body works better if it’s not constrained.”

4. Less Salt, More Veggies.

“Salt causes water retention, which can make legs swell,” says the doctor. “I recommend a Mediterranean diet rich in fruits and vegetables, with meals cooked briefly—grilled or steamed.”

Follow these tips and add some squats and soft sand running and you'll be on your way to legs as hot as Miss Paltrow's in no time!
