Fitspo of the week: The Base Body Babes

Posted on April 13, 2014 by Sasha Hartley

Felicia and Diana are two of the most inspirational women we have met, and with over 125K on Instagram it is clear that they are inspiring a lot of other people too! From smoothies to strength workouts these girls live and breathe an active life...which completely justifies their enviable collection of Nike runners. We caught up with them to find out their favourite workout, recipes and other key tips to live an active life.

What's your favourite way to start the day?

F: I love starting the day with a smoothie or smoothie bowl! You can mix in your favourite superfoods like chia seeds, bee pollen, add some protein powder and coconut water and you have a delicious and nutritious smoothie.

D: With 5am starts, I need protein to fill me up and give me energy until my next meal. I always love eggs in the morning....preferably with sauerkraut and cherry tomatoes. Yum! A morning training session always makes me feel fantastic too!

What are your fit girl essentials?

  • Water - for glowing skin and to keep hydrated so you can push through hard workouts.
  • Healthy snacks - We always like to keep activated nuts, homemade bliss balls or fresh fruit on us at times. We do a lot of running around and snacks give us energy, plus stop us from eating anything too naughty.
  • Well fitting tights - We do a lot of skipping, squatting and box jumping. We cannot afford to be pulling up our tights all the time, therefore well fitting tights are essential. We love the Lauren compression tights as they suck you in and hold you tight. Compression also has amazing muscle recovery benefits so we can put our best into our training day after day.
  • Head phones/Music - Music is definitely a must when we work out. Firstly, the beat of a song keeps your movements consistent so you are working the muscles on each side of your body at a similar rate. Plus, if you're busy listening to a great song, you won't be thinking as much about how much your thighs hurt.

What's one of your favourite healthy recipes?

Our Bliss Balls, they are so easy to make and super healthy! Check out the recipe for the chocolate bliss balls now!

Can you give us a killer workout?

This is our Fat Burning Circuit

12 x box jumps

12 x push ups

24 x kettlebell swings

12 x Horizontal pull ups

12 x walking lunges (each way, so 24 in total)

Repeat 4-6 times!!

Check out their Burn Baby Burn Workout now.

How do you like to indulge?

D: A great afternoon would be to walk along the coast, and then sitting down and relaxing with Women's Fitness Mag and a coffee. Adding a great gluten free pasta dish for dinner would make it pretty perfect too.

Hope you enjoyed learning about their fit life, if you have any more questions for the girls let us know xx
